Metro DX Club Meeting Minutes

July 20, 2018

The meeting was called to order by President Jim N9TK, with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

In attendance, besides Jim were Mike K9ACM, Christine KD9KGG, Aidan KD9LGI, Mike K9LSH, Jerry K9PMV, Ed K9EGS, Ron WB9JYZ, Jerry K9PY, John K9DRS , Phil N9LAH, Mel NE9A, John W9ILY,Steve W9KXT, Lee WA9LEY.

OLD BUSINESS

The MINUTES of the previous meeting were approved.

The TREASURERS REPORT was distributed by John W9ILY and was approved and seconded. The treasury is in good shape. Expenses included $100 donation to the KH1 DXpedition, $200 for our club insurance and reimbursement for Field Day expenses.

WUST One new certificate was awarded to DK8MCT. We had one other inquiry but are awaiting a response back.

CONTESTS Reported by W9ILY NAQP club was 31 of 62 clubs reporting, 5 members participated ARRL RTTY 4 members participated CQWPX 29 of 40 clubs with 4 members participating NAQP CW 54 of 101 with 4 members participating CQWW CW 43 of 63 with 4 members participating We were reminded that both NAQP RTTY and CQ VHF contests are on tap tomorrow, 7/21.

LOCAL REPEATER NC9T 442.025 tone is 100hz, transmit up 5 mhz. Many members hang out there and make DX call ins.

2018 FIELD DAY 1232 CW contacts 252 SSB 1484 total contacts 5432 claimed score 12 members attended Our site is very good. Plenty of room. However, visitors from the public are not allowed so the club will look into other locations. There is another possible site close by that will be investigated. Many thanks to Jerry K9LOT for the use of his motor home.

NEW BUSINESS

Outbound QSL Service Jerry K9PY, is forwarding member's QSL's to the ARRL. See previous posts for details.

Metro Picnic 8/11 at Noon at the QTH of WB9Z / NV9L, near Crescent City. Mark K9TP is coordinating via the club reflector. Don't miss this annual event!

August Meeting This is our annual combined meeting with NIDXA. Friday August 10th 7:30pm at the Moran Athletic Club in Joliet. Meeting for dinner before the meeting. See reflector posts for details or contact K9NU who is coordinating.

W9C Special Event 10/15-10/21 Celebrating the Illinois Bi-Centennial. All members are encouraged to operate. E-Mail John W9ILY who will send members a link to the on line sign up sheet. The event details will be in Oct QST. Matt K9BBQ is designing our QSL/certificate again this year.

Announcements K9V Canines for veterans special event being held tomorrow. Look for them on the air.

W9ZL Oshkosh Air Show beginning 7/21 for a week. Thousands of airplanes and a special event station.

IOTA contest 7/28

John W9ILY talked about recent upgrades to his antenna farm. Phil N9LAH is working on some upgrade plans too.

The meeting was adjourned for refreshments followed by our program.

Lee WA9LEY presented Metro's 2018 Field Day wrap-up with slides and videos of antenna set up, our stations inside the motor home and the food tent.
