METRO
DX CLUB MEETING MINUTES
–
June 19, 2009
The meeting was called to order at
7:31 PM
by President Bob Adamitis,
K9MDO. He then led the members in
the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. The
minutes of the last meeting and the financial report were read by Jack
Nienhaus, W9NJB, Secretary/Treasurer.
They were approved by the members.
V.P. John Holmes, W9ILY reporting on DX and club contesting stated there was
nothing unusual about DX except on 6 meters which has come to life while the
lower bands were essentially quiet. In
the 2008 ARRL 10
meter contest Metro finished
#7. In the 2009
January VHF Sweepstakes Metro came out #8.
W9ILY and N9LAH worked the 2009
RTTY Roundup and finished
#8 in the USA, low power. W9ILY
reported that present IRC’s will expire on December 31st so you
had better get yours redeemed at the post office now.
H&W:
Jack W9NJB was in the hospital from June 3rd to June 6th after
a mild heart attack. Bob K9MDO
will be visiting Roger in FL July 7th to 14th.
Bob
K9MDO advised that Field Day operations are on hold at the present time.
He and W9ILY visited the Oak Forest hospital to check on the
FD site and verify that we had permission to operate FD there.
The security officer at the gate had no record of our being given
permission that W9NJB received orally several months ago.
Bob called and talked to the
hospital official who
said he would have the Administration Office call. After several attempts
there were no calls forthcoming.
Additionally, Jack W9NJB received word from his nephew that he had sold
the motor home.
There is a small park near Phil’s, N9LAH, home in Chebanse
that he will check for
availability. K9CJ advised that
he could not obtain permission to operate near 183rd and
Harlem
.
The
Special Event Station will operate on
October 3, 2009
with the special call W9M.
Details will come later.
The
picnic will take place on August 15th at Pat and Jess Colvin's
QTH in Braceville.
Refreshments
this evening were provided by Dennis, KA9ZZT and will be provided next month
by Jerry, K9PY.
The
meeting was adjourned at
8:10 PM

The
program was interesting DVD of a DXpedition/CQWW CW contest station
“XT2DX at Burkina Faso " .
