OLD BUSINESS
The MINUTES of the previous meeting were approved.
The TREASURERS REPORT was distributed by John W9ILY. Treasury in good shape
but our fund for DXpeditions is running low.
WUST no new awards this month.
Health & Welfare Our thoughts are with N9LAH and XYL Cindy who is
currently hospitalized.
NEW BUSINESS
Outbound QSL Service Jerry K9PY, explained how club members can save money by
combining outbound cards as a group. Bring your QSL's to the next meeting.
Lots of DX on the Air Many DXpeditions are currently active like Kosovo,
Annobon, Easter Island and more. Others are coming up.
Names Tags and Hats The Sign Man makes our name tags with both pin and
magnetic mounts available. See Metro web site for a link. John K9DRS, is our
point man if you would like to order a Metro DX Club hat.
Metro Picnic We are still in need of a new picnic location this year. Phil
and Cindy are fantastic hosts but will not be able to host the picnic this year.
Donations Our donation fund has run low so a vote was taken and approved to
award $100 each to INDXA, NCDXF and Club Log with the money to be taken out of
our general fund. This is the same amount awarded last year.
May Meeting After some discussion our May meeting will be on the 3rd Friday
as usual. The Dayton Hamvention is the same weekend and many members are going
to Dayton. If the date changes, all will be notified.
Field Day Jerry K9LOT has offered the club the use of his motor home. We will
be operating 2A again this year. Will probably use 2 double extended zepps
instead of the vertical and 2 el Stepper.
Estate Planning Talked a bit about including your ham equipment in estate
plans. Also, we have been successful in selling off ham gear for the families of
SK's. Some of these funds were given to the club which we then use as donations
to DXpeditions and DX foundations.
Announcements Congratulations to Val NV9L who has been named AMATEUR OF THE
YEAR by the Hamvention Awards Committee.
April 6th Hamfesters will offer a NWS certified weather spotting course at
7pm, Crestwood Civic Center; 14025 S. Kostner Ave., Crestwood, IL.
Metro DX Cub now has 46 dues paid active members.
April's program will feature Val NV9L and her disaster relief activities in
Puerto Rico.
Program Jim N9TK presented a slide show of his month long sea adventure
trying to activate Bouvet Island. Jerry WB9Z also provided commentary. It was
very interesting and informative with lots of questions from the audience.
