METRO DX CLUB
MEETING MINUTES - MAY 16, 2008
Tonight’s
meeting was held at the
Midlothian
Civic
Center, our new permanent location. The
meeting was called to order by President Bob Adamitis
K9MDO at
7:30 PM
. The minutes of the last meeting
were dispensensed with as they were previously provided to the membership by
e-mail. A number of members are
attending the Dayton Hamfest this weekend.
John
Holmes W9ILY advised there was not much contest action with the exception of the
South American contest this weekend and the WPX CW contest for next weekend.
Under old business, the changes in the By Laws could not be voted upon by the
members as a quorum was not present this evening.
The
Second Annual Club Picnic was discussed and K9MDO advised that Jess AI9L and
Patti AF9H were agreeable to again holding it at their home in Braceville.
The members present agreed that this should be a pot luck picnic with
various members advising in advance what they would provide so there would be a
good selection of food and drink. A
possible date for the affair is still to be decided.
H&W:
Gene Marcheschi, N9MUX, the son of member Bob
Marcheschi WF9V, passed away and K9MDO, W9ILY and
W9NJB attended the wake in
Blue Island
today to pay their respects and represent the club.
Roger Borowski K9RB is recovering from his
lower leg amputation and will return home from rehab on May 23rd.
We hope that the health of Dot Truhlar -
N9ALC will continue to improve.
Field
Day Chairman Bob Jacobson K9CJ distributed a list of items needed for the
exercise with the names of the people expected to provide them.
Dennis Robinson KA9ZZT will again provide the masts and wires for the
antenna and bring them to the location about
6:00 PM
on Friday. Members should arrive
about the same time to commence erecting the antennae.
The remainder of the evening was spent in a general discussion of Field
Day operations.
The
meeting was adjourned at
8:37 PM
