DX Club Meeting Minutes May 22, 2015 The meeting was called to
order at 19:47 by President Jim Mornar N9TK, with the Pledge of Allegiance to
the Flag. In attendance, besides Jim,
were Metro members John, W9ILY, Bob K9CJ, John K9DRS, Bob N9ORD, Jerry K9PY, Lee
WA9LEY, Mike K9LSH, Jim NV9X, Gregg AB9MZ, Bob K9MDO, Jerry WB9Z, Matt KA9BBQ,
Jan WG9V, Paul K9NU, George W9OA, Dennis KA9ZZT, Tony KD9CAU, Don K9NR and
visitors Brian WD9HSY, Barbara KA9BAG (XYL of KA9BBQ), John KC9YAZ, Bill K9RR,
John K9EL, and Nick K9NB. OLD
BUSINESS: The MINUTES are posted on the website.
A motion to accept was made by KD9CAU and seconded by KA9ZZT. The TREASURERS REPORT was
distributed by John W9ILY and is available to view on the Yahoo Groups page
under “files”. A motion to approve the treasurer’s report was made and
seconded. The WUST award is referenced on the KH5 Palmyra website at http://palmyra2016.org.
Since March, two WUST Awards have been issued. CLUB
PICNIC is
scheduled at the residence of Phil, N9LAH on Saturday August 1st .
More information to follow, so save the date. Bob, N9ORD stated that
DAYTON HAMVENTION was a success in spite of a short period of rain. A report on the 66th
International DX Convention (IDXC) in Visalia, CA. was made by Jerry, WB9Z. NEW
BUSINESS Some of the W9LNQ QSL card
collection was sold to a collector for $250.00. Some rare 5-Meter cards were
sold to a collector in Australia and others will be advertised on eBay.
Additional sales are expected. CONTESTS
and UPCOMING DXPEDITIONS CQWPX-CW was held at the end

John W9ILY to KH5 in the amount of $200. A motion to make the donation was made
by K9DRS and seconded by K9MDO. Motion passed. FIELD
DAY K9CJ let a discussion on the
activities for the weekend was held. We will be using the grounds of the former
Tinley Park Mental Health Center at 7400 W. 183rd Street (just west
of Harlem Avenue). Nine club members will be involved. Saturday meals will be
handled by Jerry K9PY and Bob N9ORD. The EOC HF antenna update is
on hold at this time. The June club meeting will
feature Mike K9AJ presenting one of his recent IOTA DXpeditions. In August, Metro members are
invited to the NIDXA meeting in Joliet on August 14 hosted by John W9ILY and
Paul K9NU. Consider attending the
W9DXCC Convention September 11 and 12th. Following a motion to
adjourn by K9LSH, and seconded, the meeting was called to a CLOSE at 20:20. A
presentation on the K1N Navassa DXpedition was made by Jerry WB9Z. This interesting slide
presentation shared the history and challenges that the K1N team had to overcome
in order to gain access to this 200 acre island. Navassa was last operated by
amateur radio in 1993.The 2015 trip had 15 operators, 5 US Fish and Wildlife
Security personnel all at no cost to the taxpayer. Over 140,000 contacts were
