DX Club Meeting Minutes
May 27, 2016
The meeting was called to
order by Vice President Bob K9CJ, with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag at
19:42.
In attendance, besides Bob,

BUSINESS:
Health
and Welfare Has
nothing to report
The MINUTES as distributed were approved of the previous meeting by
KA9ZZT and seconded by N9IHZ.
The TREASURERS REPORT was distributed by John, W9ILY. The amount of
$1,520.47 is available for donations. Income of $1,584.54 was from dues, WUST
and K9ILX and W9LNQ estate sales. Expenses of $271.95 were incurred for a
memorial brick at the ARRL for K9ILZ. A motion to approve the treasurer’s
report was made by K9MDO and seconded by KA9BBQ.
WUST
awards had been issued to SV2CXI from Greece, AH6FX and OE6CLD.
Information on K9ILX
Estate stated that more than 25 of 45 items were sold with Metro acquiring
$1,395.00 this month.
Bob N9ORD gave a report on
the DAYTON HAMVENTION. $400 of estate items were sold by N9ORD and N9LAH at
Dayton.
CONTEST
RESULTS:
We finished
6th place of 20 in club category for Illinois QSO Party with 4
participants, the In November sweepstakes we were 32 of 41 with 5 participants
and CQ World Wide CW
45 of 65 with 14 participants.
NEW
BUSINESS
The question was presented
about sponsoring a plaque for CQ DX Marathon or another contest in the future.
Alternative financial sponsorship ideas were also mentioned for consideration.
Field
Day: We will be at the Tinley Park
Mental Health Center as last year with use of the trailer and generator. A
discussion of equipment was mentioned as well as filling the overnight shift.
Meal staff was organized with K9PY and N9IHZ to provide Saturday dinner.
Equipment has been scheduled.
The EOC antenna is still on hold pending an antenna decision.
An Antenna without radials is required. The Village was given a list of
antenna possibilities. There is a
possibility of having a TransWorld antenna being donated to the EOC following
its use with National Parks on the Air.
K9CJ reported the SDR
Radio project has all parts and is awaiting assembly.
Special
Event Station: An operation in early
November honoring Walter Cronkite’s 100th anniversary of his birth
was discussed. We will request the call W9C.
General
Discussion:
Guy N9NK gave a brief
introduction of his ham experiences to the club.
Following a motion to
adjourn by KA9BBQ and seconded by K9PY, the meeting was called to a CLOSE
at 20:30.
Following a short break,
Mike K9AJ gave a great presentation of his DXpedition to South Georgia Island
VP8SGI and South Sandwich Island VP8STI earlier this year.
