OLD BUSINESS
The MINUTES of the previous meeting were approved.
The TREASURERS REPORT was distributed. Our treasurer, John W9ILY, was among
many Metro members travelling to the Dayton Hamvention this weekend. Our income
included dues from a new member and equipment sales proceeds donated to the
club. Details in group.io treasurer reports. Last month, Metro donated $45 to
KP4 Disaster Recovery. The treasurers report also outlined our club's other
donations last year and YTD in 2018. Details can be found in groups.io treasurer
reports.
WUST no new awards reported this month.
Health & Welfare Our thoughts are with N9LAH and XYL Cindy. Cindy is now
at home with help from a home healthcare worker. A Go Fund Me page was set up to
help with expenses. Details can be found on previous posts in our groups.io
reflector.
NEW BUSINESS
Outbound QSL Service Jerry K9PY is coordinating this service. Members can
save money by combining outbound cards as a group. Bring your QSL's to the next
meeting.
Metro Picnic Jerry WB9Z and Val NV9L are hosting our picnic this year. A date
has not been set yet.
Field Day Jerry K9LOT has offered the club the use of his motor home. We will
be operating 2A again this year. Bob K9CJ sent out a spread sheet with items
needed for Field Day. Some items are still needed. Will discuss about more of
the details at the June meeting. We need volunteers for overnight operators. The
all important discussion of food was led by our chefs Jerry K9PY and Bob N9ORD.
Mike K9LSH is bringing Italian sausage, buns and his special sauce. This is in
addition to our chefs' selections.
Announcements Congratulations to John K9DRS who earned his DXCC via LOTW with
his Kosovo, Z60A contact being #100.
Matt K9BBQ reports being very close to DXCC via LOTW. He is over when
counting QSL cards received.
Talked a bit about the upcoming Baker Island DXexpedition and their testing
of a FT8 DXpedition mode that will allow them to make hundreds of contacts an
hour.
The discussion went back to food. Members talked about their area restaurant
favorites both past and present as well as local entertainment.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting for refreshments. Those
not attending this meeting missed out on Brenda's famous brownies.
Program Jim N9TK had a compilation of member pictures and videos from the
Bouvet Island DXpedition that he shared with the group. We learned more about
the ship and crew and more about some some of the team members. Again, a very
interesting presentation.
