August 2, 2014 was another great day for our annual Metro picnic at the home of N9LAH in Chebanse. Phil and Cindy did a great job in welcoming the happy and hungry club members and guests. There were 27 attendees who enjoyed the appetizers, burgers, brats, fried chicken, salads, fruit plates and many desserts. What a feast! Later in the day Mike, K9AJ, hosted the "CW Pileup" competition. Six club members attempted to decipher the calls and the winner with the most correct was Jim, N9TK, followed by Carl K9CS and Bob K9CJ. Prizes were awarded to these top finishers. Later, Bob, K9MDO was surprised with a plaque acknowledging his years of service for our club. Bob was really surprised and quite speechless...quite a rarity for Bob!
